I could very well regret writing about my adventures in dating for the whole internet world to see, but really, when you've got a good story, someone needs to hear it, right?
When I moved here, I wondered how in the world I'd meet guys. I mean, yes, there are plenty of other things I worried about, but it's been three months and I've blogged about my new place, my new job, my new dog, my new decor in my apartment several times, my list of things to do with my life, and food. I think I'm allowed to admit that I wondered when I moved here how I'd meet guys. I had experience meeting guys online even before I moved here, but nothing like the blizzard of guys I've talked to/met since moving here. The first guy three guys I met here all had the same name. "Hi, my name is Emily, and I'm a serial same-name dater." Now that that's out in the open. Guy with name #1 smoked pot. A lot of it, as in his bong was kept on his coffee table. And I'll get slightly defensive and say he was not your stereotypical pothead, but it was an immediate deal-breaker for me. Sorry, being a teacher doesn't leave much room for me to date people who break the law. Guy with name #2 was an Ironman finisher and seemed pretty bad-ass. Until I met him. And I realized he had the dating experience of a seventh grader. And not the popular one that dresses like, and has a Bieber haircut, the one who looks at girls and still says "ew." So he made it through one date. Guy with name #3 was an ass. The type of jackass who defends himself by saying "I'm not an ass, I'm just sarcastic." He lasted a few dates because on the first date, I called him out on being an ass (what? I'm blunt, I don't have the patience for bullshit) and he said that no one had ever called him out on it before so I gave him a chance to fix it since he was then aware of it. He didn't fix it so he got the axe.
Then comes Puck. That is not his real name, the name comes because of his striking resemblance to Puck, the character from Glee. Oh yes, he was that hot. I got all giddy like a little girl after our first date was the most amazing first date I've ever had. There was chemistry, there were no lulls in conversation, there was laughter, there were stories. I had high hopes. Then due to unforeseen circumstances (they were unforeseen to me, he maybe have predicted them), we went out to bar for Halloween with my brother and friends and he left me downtown, depending on my sister-in-law to drive an hour out of her way to take me home that night. Not cool. Of course, being AWESOME people, my brother's friends were incredibly amazing and the night that could have been completely awful still turned out to be fun.
No worries, though, there's another one lined up... :) Can't keep me down.
Please update about your online dating adventures more often! Sounds like good material haha.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with Tiffany! And hey, you'll meet the right guy soon enough. :) Sometimes, it just takes a few missteps before you take the right step. Or...something like that. ;)
